3 tips for a smooth wake up

For many people, waking up is a terrible time. When your alarm clock goes off, you quickly turn it off, then you immediately get up and never go back to sleep. A day can then begin. Only the transition is cruel. It is easier to understand the act of waking up if you develop certain habits.

Anticipate waking up the night before

A good wake up has to be prepared. The first step is of course to set the alarm clock, but an easy wake up can also be prepared during the whole night. For example, it is not recommended to drink tea and coffee after 4 pm. This is because caffeine tends to prolong the time it takes to fall asleep and increase wakefulness at night. If you have difficulty falling asleep, you will certainly have more difficulty waking up. The same applies to dinner; you should go for a light meal to avoid bloating. In addition, it is best to wait at least two hours before going to bed to allow time for digestion.  Finally, when you go to bed, prepare your stuff for the next day to avoid morning stress. Put your clothes aside and pack your bag. Some coffee machines can even be programmed the night before. If you would like to receive further information, please visit maison-berger.com.

Choose a pleasant alarm clock ringtone

To avoid your wake up being too harsh, it is best to choose a pleasant ringtone for your alarm clock. For example, you can choose a nature inspired sound, such as that of  the ocean waves. If not, choose your current favourite song and wake up in a good mood. You can also pick a ringtone that changes gradually. When the alarm goes off, if it bothers you, turn it off and start stretching by making circles with your head and feet. If you wake up twenty minutes before the alarm, just get up!

Wake up with daylight

If you have the opportunity, the best way to wake up is with the sunlight. When the first ray enters your room, your brain and body will naturally realise that it is time to get up. Therefore, the night before, remember to leave the blinds half-open. If you don't want to get up too early, there are dawn simulators; these are luminous alarm clocks that reproduce the sunrise, i.e. gradually light up the room. Once you are fully awake, open the shutters and windows to ventilate. Finally, to be on the safe side, if you are afraid of not waking up, always set an alarm!
